Service Technician Job Description

 

Description:

The role of the service technician is to provide professional service and support for Precision Compaction & Odor Control Service’s (Precision) customers by performing preventative maintenance and oil changes (PMO) and repairing the customer's commercial trash compactors, cardboard balers, hydraulic lifts, and rubbish chute doors.

Typical Duties:

Typical duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

Installation - technical consultation and installation assistance to install new equipment.

Start-up - hooking up new equipment, testing new equipment, training on-site personnel on proper usage techniques of newly installed equipment.

Equipment Maintenance - perform routine maintenance on equipment and writing up proposal worksheets on any future service needs on equipment.

Repairs - Repairing machine and systems, including rebuilds.

Troubleshooting - determining causes of operating errors and taking action to remedy the problem.

Record Activity - complete service tickets on every service call, properly record all expenses and turning in receipts for all expenses.

Travel - safely travel to and from customers location in company service vehicle and keep track of maintenance and upkeep of that service vehicle.

 

Education and Skills:

• High School diploma or GED certificate (required)

• Ability to work diligently by yourself with integrity, giving the customer good service and high value for the money they pay our company for the service we perform. (required)

• Electrical experience (preferred), 3 phase power, reading electrical diagrams, PLC modules, troubleshooting electrical problems, etc.

• Welding and Plasma cutting (preferred), Arch/Stick welding, metal cutting, fabricating

 

Physical Demands:

While performing duties of this job, a technician would be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.

• Must be able to drive safely for periods of up to 2 to 3 hours at a time to reach job destinations.

• Must be able to have manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools required on the job.

• Must occasionally lift and/ or move at least 100 lbs.

• Must be willing to work in dirty and smelly locations that will require getting dirty and smelly to perform the required duties.

Work Environment:

• Travel is mostly in a company-provided service van.

• Majority of work will be performed at commercial properties at customer locations. Many times these locations are dirty and smelly.

• Travel & work is performed under a variety of weather extremes, from wet to dry, from cold to hot.

• Precision will furnish the needed safety equipment (gloves, goggles, hearing protection) depending on the job that is being performed and this equipment is expected to be used to protect the employee.
